Solar Coming Home

| August 5, 2014 | 0 Comments

Solar is coming back home to Kenya, where the Equator slices through the country giving it year-long sun-shine that is only briefly interrupted by the cold season from June to July. However, Kenya hasn’t always made use of this natural gift of Solar, with solar being mostly used in off-grid rural areas to charge phones and light homes. But this is all set to change.

Garden City Village which is set to host East Africa’s largest mall is also set to provide Africa’s largest solar-panel covered car park. This unprecedented solar fitting is expected to provide¬†1,246,000 kWh per year, reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 492 tonnes annually. Read more about this in our upcoming energy issue which will be out in late September.
